Lett’s Read

AlexSandra Lett’s first nostalgia book, A Timeless Place, Lett’s Set a Spell at the Country Store, opens at a country store owned by her Grandpa (Puzie Lett), which is the social center of a community called Buckhorn in rural North Carolina. The book features colorful characters who live forever through compelling anecdotes about party lines, radio shows, church goings-on, farming, quilting, hog-killing, fishing, courting, wars, etc. Readers will take a nostalgic journey to simpler times when family values and community spirit reigned. A Timeless Place offers precious stories and humorous anecdotes one might hear at any country store. Many country stores are closed now but the stories live on…

Since the author grew up with folklore about the moon AlexSandra Lett wrote Timeless Moons, Seasons of the Fields and Matters of the Heart to capture these country customs. This inspirational book features stories about relying on The Farmers Almanac and tried-and-true traditions to plant crops, make soap, cut hair, chop wood, go fishing, etc. Other topics relating to rural culture include: Moonshine and stockcar racing; MoonPies and RC Colas; “Once in a Blue Moon” and other loony phrases. Readers will appreciate America’s timeless traditions throughout the four seasons of the year with stories related to special occasions like Easter, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, Fourth of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas, etc. There are even a few recipes and remedies.

AlexSandra Lett’s third book, Timeless Recipes & Remedies, Country Cooking, Customs, and Cures, captures the enticing aromas and delicious flavors of favorites ranging from hard-to-find recipes from a country kitchen in the 1920s to modern culinary creations. The book also explores common sense cures from Grandma’s cupboard and healing aids from Grandpa’s country store. Readers will feel the love in these stories about family, friends, food, and folklore…after all, love is the most important ingredient in all recipes and remedies. The book’s humorous anecdotes and amusing reflections encourage readers to honor their family’s heritage and community customs and recall memories of home, sweet home.
In AlexSandra Lett’s newest book, Coming Home to my Country Heart, Timeless Reflections on Work, Family, Health, and Spirit, she opens with a chapter on “Going Crazy…Getting Sane” when she leaves behind her public relations/marketing company and seeks to find a higher purpose for her career and more meaning in her life. As she explores her voice as a writer she discovers success in writing nostalgia and returns to her home community, then experiences the decline and death of both parents, suffers a health challenge, and finds spiritual strength. In keeping with the timeless theme, the book’s subtitle is Timeless Reflections on Work, Family, Health, and Spirit. Today, Lett is honoring her deep roots and has come home to her country heart.
